We are implementing MDG for Vendors, and also Information Steward with Data Services. We have created a list of Business Rules in Excel which is being used to create the actual validation rules in MDG, IS, and DS. We had initially planned for MDG Change Requests to use as many of the rules from DS as possible, rather than write the same rule twice (in DS, and BRFplus in MDG). However, it's become apparent that a DS/IS interpretation of a rule geared to data profiling or reporting is not optimal for MDG, and that writing the same rule specifically for MDG using BRF plus is best. Which means the same rule maintained in two places. Does anyone have an opinion here? Does it make more sense to maintain business rules separately in MDG and DS/IS? Or to have MDG call most of the rules from IS/DS?
